Should I teach English on my gap year?

There’s absolutely no reason not to! If you’re planning on travelling with your gap year then teaching English is certainly an option to finance your stay. A common route is to teach in Thailand, China, Vietnam, or Cambodia in SE Asia, or in South America,  and enjoy the local lifestyle while saving up some extra money. When you’ve done this, you can take some time off to travel. There are also a number of similar programmes in Europe where you can teach before taking to the rails. Prague for example, is a hub for teaching English and an excellent gateway to travel.

Even if you’re not planning on teaching English outside your gap year though, it’s still best to get a certificate of good academic quality. This can get you to some better jobs, and it also looks great on a CV and shows you truly did something with your travels!
